This is one of your best podcasts.
That is just gorgeous. Your voice and accent are beautiful, and the whole thing sounds like a recitation of Shakespeare and Alan Ginsburg at the same time. Your poetry truly is meant to be read aloud. I can see why you sound out your poems. Really, all poetry and prose should sound beautiful read aloud. It’s hard to do. Poets often focus more on shape and where they put their lines. By shunning all that, your emphasis is in a whole other place.
your voice is to die for. You make each word roll like a gem or a piece of chocolate tenderly melting on the tongue. I will listen again and again.
WoW! Paul this is beautiful! I love your voice, what you say, the way you read. As I listened I had a moment of auditory imagination which came like a vision - I “heard” you reading, and then I heard you reading other pieces, layered over, from different starting points, and then other voices entering, male and female, from other locations… so the poems/incantations seemed to surround and to lift the listener… do you paint, or know a painter you could work with there? I could see a gallery of images… or non-images for that matter, just stopping points in a physical gallery, and in each location, or “station”, a different recording, either triggered by the listener’s proximity or all speaking at once, layered, as I said earlier…
well, I never know if it is appropriate to make suggestions about someone’s work, suggest other places they might take it. But this sense of sound came so strongly I felt compelled to mention it. So instead of paintings in an exhibition it would be voices, voices over, voices under…
extraordinary, what a gift, its really so incredibly artful it does reach beyond boundaries enveloping other sensibilities in a swirl, and stands rooted as a single medium as well. imo your work bears the true mark of quality and greatness. its so there. so wonderfully all there. bless you
