I like this, warts 'n' all, how you stutter over 'when the meditation fails' - how apt!

I think more poets should do 'micro-podcasting' (if I can call it that) like this, a poem at a time. I've thought about doing it myself, and have made a few recordings, some of which ended up on Wordsalad.

I'm sure more and more poets on the web will take up the idea. Being able to hear the poet is so important. I hope you keep it up.

Must be the only poem in the world to namecheck Ginsberg, Ganesha and Scolari. I can imagine there may be a few out there with Ginsberg and Ganesha. Scolari started so well at Chelsea, but then other managers began to work out his style and it seemed he didn't have a plan B. Do you follow the world game or was that just an offhand reference?

I like the 'lo-fi'-ness of it, how I can hear papers shuffling / rustling while you read, and like Brad said, the fact that it doesn't sound practised. Your voice fits the piece (as it should). For what it's worth I thought you sounded slightly drunk! (It's all in the way the voice flows)

There is a definite appeal to this 'practiced' delivery, Paul. So much so that it hardly sounds practiced at all. Brilliant! And I noticed the references to Kiersty's writing as well. Very inspiring.

Well that was just pluperfect. I've always thought that the best way to remember something is not to think about it! You have a lovely voice. I think all your stuff should be podcast, especially as you don't like punctuation. It removes ambiguity.

You have got it all going on here, Paul. Clear, confident voice to a piece that was well worth the time you spent flaying yourself for an ending. I much like.

Now that tempo is perfect... absolutely. Less emphasis on the rhyme and alliteration to make it flicker almost unintentionally can be next, haha, but knowing you this was a one hit and done... but I am SO impressed with the soft slow rhythm you maintain. YAY!

I can feel you tensing up already, sshhh, sparkling could sparkle a little longer to allow the mind to catch up the vision of salt fish before leading onto perfume. A hard 'k' with the 'ling' trickling after would allow the extra moment in that word. Then just half a finger click before the second 'and'. No, no, it wouldn't break the rhythm but I can see that would be the worry. Love the mellowness of the voice - fabulous Squires. I closed my eyes and read the words after... then closed my eyes again.

what a gift this is Paul, i will be tuning in for this wonderful treat and readalong with my Puzzle Box book
and i suddenly remembered these lyrics
"you say...slow down...i fall behind...the second hand unwinds..."(cyndi lauper)
timing is everything i've heard tell but distinctive gait and pace can be recognized from a great distance and according to geophysics time is not consistent
but we still wear watches
